Clear, Honest Answers to Help You Choose the Right Financial Partner

Choosing a financial advisor is a major decision. Whether you are curious about our fiduciary standard, how our 360° planning process works, or how we integrate tax return prep and investment planning, we believe in complete transparency upfront.

Q: Where is your primary office located, and do you serve clients outside of Green Bay?

A: Secure Retirement Solutions’ central office is located at 611 Packerland Drive in Green Bay, WI. While we provide retirement planning solutions to families throughout Northeast Wisconsin — including Ashwaubenon, De Pere, Howard, Suamico, Bellevue, Hobart, Allouez, and surrounding communities — we also work with clients remotely through secure video calls, phone appointments, and digital document signing, where state registration rules permit.

Q: What should I expect during my initial introductory meeting?

A: Our initial consultation is a pressure-free, discovery conversation. We sit down (in person or virtually) to discuss your current financial picture, retirement goals, concerns, and timeline. We review your existing accounts, current and future expenses, healthcare plans, and other variables to see where opportunities or gaps may exist. You leave with clear insights into how we can help — with zero obligation to move forward.

Q: What documents should I gather for our first planning session?

A: To give you a comprehensive 360° review, it helps to bring copies of:

  • Recent investment, 401(k), or IRA account statements
  • Your most recent personal tax return (Form 1040)
  • Social Security statements or estimated benefit statements
  • Current life insurance or annuity policies (if applicable)
  • Existing estate planning documents (Wills, Trusts, POAs)

Q: How often will we review my retirement strategy once I become a client?

A: Financial planning is an ongoing relationship, not a static binder on a shelf. We conduct formal annual or semi-annual reviews to rebalance portfolios, evaluate tax-saving opportunities, adjust for major life events, and update retirement cash-flow projections. Beyond scheduled reviews, our team is always available by phone or email for questions throughout the year.

Q: How do you help with 401(k) and workplace retirement rollovers?

A: When leaving an employer or retiring, you generally have four options:

  • Leave assets in your former employer’s plan
  • Roll assets into a new employer's plan
  • Roll assets into an Individual Retirement Account (IRA)
  • Cash out the account balance (subject to ordinary income tax and potential early withdrawal penalties)

We conduct a comprehensive comparison of fees, investment options, services, and plan protections across all choices. If an IRA rollover is recommended, we facilitate direct trustee-to-trustee transfers to preserve tax benefits and streamline your broader retirement strategy.

Q: Do I need to hire a separate accountant for my tax returns?

A: Not necessarily. While we collaborate seamlessly with outside CPAs and attorneys, our network includes tax professionals who prepare and file tax returns directly for our clients. Because our advisors and tax team communicate internally, we can seamlessly coordinate proactive tax-minimization strategies while minimizing miscommunication.

Q: How are your advisory fees structured?

A: We believe in complete fee transparency. For portfolio management, we operate primarily on a fee-based percentage of assets under management (AUM). This structure aligns our investment management focus with your portfolio's growth. Specific fee schedules, negotiability, and any underlying expenses (such as custodian or fund fees) are fully disclosed upfront in our Form ADV Part 2A brochure before any work begins.

Q: Do you have a strict account minimum to work with SRS?

A: We do not believe in turning away individuals simply because they haven't met a specific account minimum. While our strategies are tailored primarily for pre-retirees and retirees building or preserving substantial savings, we welcome the opportunity to speak with anyone who is serious about taking control of their financial future.

Q: How is Secure Retirement Solutions different from a traditional wealth management firm or brokerage?

A: Many advisory firms focus on managing stock and bond portfolios, treating your taxes and healthcare as separate, outside issues. We take a 360° approach. Under one roof, our advisors and trusted network coordinate investment management, proactive tax return preparation, and estate legacy strategies – helping align every piece of your financial future.
